"Dear all,
As many of you know, the Department of LCA has been offering Turkish language courses for a very long time. The enrolled students and the language instructors for this term would like to invite you to an afternoon of appreciation of Turkish culture. Let's enjoy Turkish language and culture in a very laid-back atmosphere with food, music, some performances, and most of all, friendly conversation."

TURKISH NIGHT  (Nov. 3rd 2007)

Our traditional night of fun, celebration, culture, dance, music, traditional food, folklore and good company.

An annual celebration held by Madison Association of Turkish Students with live music, Turkish food, and dancing. Open to anyone. Sandra Arfa, the director of English as a Second Language Program, gave the opening speech.

The ensemble Salaam explores a cultural mosaic of music from countries of the Middle East and North Africa Their innovative arrangements, improvisations, and compositions reflect the traditional styles of these countries as well as the band's fresh interpretations. Their musical goal is to bring the beauty of other cultures to children and adults alike.

This is the second Turkish Film Festival in Madison, first one being organized again by MATS in 1987 with attendance of the acclaimed Turkish director Halit Refig.
